Why Are We Here?

There are plenty of parenting blogs out there discussing video games, but many come from outsiders looking in, often highlighting only the negatives. As a passionate gamer myself, I know firsthand how incredible and enriching gaming can be. It’s a world full of creativity, connection, and skill-building—but it also has its pitfalls.

Let’s be honest: game developers aren’t designing games with your child’s best interest in mind. Their job is to make money, and they’re really good at it—through exciting gameplay, addictive mechanics, and, of course, microtransactions.

But here’s the thing: our job as parents is to protect our kids and make informed decisions about what they’re exposed to. And the truth is, we only know what we know.

That’s why I created Gamer Mom XP—to bridge that gap. I want to give parents the information they need to decide what’s right for their family. No fear-mongering. No negativity for the sake of it. Just facts.

How I Write My Reviews

Each review follows a clear, straightforward structure to make it easy for you to find the info you need.

My Experience Rating

I’ll be upfront—I won’t play every game I write about. Some, I’ve played extensively. Others, I’ve researched thoroughly, watched gameplay, and “poked around” enough to understand the experience.

I’ve spent years immersed in gaming and the gaming community. If you’re curious about my background, check out the About Me page. My experience gives me the confidence to sift through the noise and deliver solid, unbiased information.

Why Kids Love It

Sometimes, understanding why a game appeals to kids helps us set better boundaries.

You might think they’re hooked because of the gameplay, but sometimes, it’s the creative aspect that draws them in—building, designing, problem-solving. On the flip side, some games have hidden dangers—social pressure, manipulative design, or exposure to inappropriate content.

I’ll highlight both—the healthy draws and the red flags developers don’t advertise.
